Workshop 1: AI & Photonics for Green and Sustainable Technologies
As part of ENVISUS 2027, a special interdisciplinary workshop entitled “AI & Photonics for Green and Sustainable Technologies” will bring together researchers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, photonics, optical sensing and environmental sustainability.
The workshop aims to explore how emerging artificial intelligence techniques, optical and photonic technologies, spectroscopy, imaging and smart sensing systems can contribute to solving current environmental challenges.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the integration of AI-assisted data analysis with advanced optical sensing technologies for environmental monitoring, pollution detection, water and air quality assessment, waste management, climate observation and sustainable resource management.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning for environmental applications
- Optical and photonic sensors for environmental monitoring
- Spectroscopy and imaging for pollutant detection
- AI-assisted spectral and image analysis
- Water, air and soil quality monitoring
- Laser-based environmental sensing and diagnostics
- Remote sensing and UAV-based environmental monitoring

The workshop will include invited presentations, selected research contributions and an interdisciplinary discussion session focusing on future research directions and international collaboration opportunities.
Researchers from ENVISUS, DIGIAI and INTERPHOTONICS communities, as well as scientists, engineers, graduate students and industry representatives working in related fields, are warmly invited to participate.

Workshop 2: Circular Economy, Waste Valorization and Sustainable Technologies
As part of ENVISUS 2027, a special workshop entitled “Circular Economy, Waste Valorization and Sustainable Technologies” will be organized to bring together researchers, engineers, industry representatives, policy makers and graduate students working on innovative solutions for sustainable resource use and environmental protection.
The workshop will focus on practical and emerging approaches for transforming waste streams into valuable resources, improving recycling efficiency, reducing environmental impact and supporting the transition toward circular and low-carbon production systems.

· Waste characterization and advanced separation technologies
· Recycling and resource recovery
· Waste valorization and waste-to-resource approaches
· Plastic waste and microplastic management
· Industrial and hazardous waste treatment
· Sustainable materials and eco-design
